Have you ever been to a market? A real life one? Most people have, and many people enjoy a good old bartering exchange whilst they’re there. I still remember haggling on the price of a goldfish when I was 8 years old; I got it down to half price with a free bowl thrown in and I thought I was deadly. Turns out I actually was ‘deadly’ – since I overfed it and it died.

Anyway, moving swiftly back to 2015 (where’s that DeLorean when you need it?),

hagglingEveryone loves a good bargain, and Amazon has decided to further re-create this personal experience online with the launch of its ‘make an offer’ program on Tuesday. The new system allows shoppers to negotiate better deals on more than 150,000 products and is now available in Amazons sports and entertainment collectibles, collectible coins, and fine art divisions. Whilst it’s inevitable that eBay comparisons will be drawn, Amazon is keen to stress that the new program is not designed to become an ecommerce auction. Buyers cannot pay more than the price listed and the ‘make an offer’ program applies to one of a kind products only. After the initial 150,000 roll out, the program will be extended to ‘hundreds of thousands of items’ in 2015.

So there you go, time to unleash your haggling skills and grab a few bargains! Happy Shopping!
